Voice Policies
Tuition
Lessons are 30 minutes in duration and are $18. However, this fee will be due at the beginning of each month in the form of $72. In other words, at the beginning of each month (of the school year) you will pay for 4 lessons. Some months we will have 5 lessons but you will only be charged for 4. This is to help even out the months where we may only meet 3 times due to holidays or other events. You will be charged for 41 lessons for the year (including summer), so that is how many we will plan on having. Please read my policy regarding make-up lessons. After the first child (or adult), every subsequent member of a family will receive 10% off the cost of their tuition.
Make-up lessons
I will set aside one Saturday each month to schedule make-up lessons on. If I have an open slot on a weekday we may choose to schedule a make-up lesson then in place of that Saturday, this is a situational option. Make-up lessons are a privilege, so please do your best to respect your weekly timeslot. If you miss more than one lesson in a month and we aren’t able to find a different time during the week for you to make it up, then it may come off your number of lessons for the year.
Attendance
Attendance is expected at every scheduled lesson.
Alert me of absences in advance. If you have a vacation planned please let me know a week in advance. For other circumstances such as illness, please let me know as early as possible. If you miss a lesson without letting me know of the situation at least two hours in advance, you will not be eligible for a make-up lesson. Absences should also be based upon a legitimate reason, please respect my time this way. If I do not feel like your reason for absence was respectful of my time I reserve the right to deny you a make-up lesson. If something happens and I am unable to teach, we will schedule a make-up lesson.
Materials
You will need to bring a 3 ring binder and a water bottle with you to each of your lessons. Most of your student’s music will be supplied by me, but if there is a specific song they’d like to learn that is only available through purchase than I will expect you to cover that cost.
Summer Lessons
We will schedule a total of 4 lessons to have over the summer. This will enable us to work around summer vacations while still continuing your student’s progression of skills. The cost of the summer semester is $72.
Event Participation
Participation in our studio recital each spring will be mandatory unless there are extenuating circumstances. Participation in other events such as STAC, Federation Festival, or the Bill Riley Talent Search is optional. If you choose to participate in an event that has an entrance fee then it will be the responsibility of the student or their family/guardian to cover that cost.
Duration of Lessons
We will meet for a consultation to assess where your student is at musically and if you’d like to proceed with lessons under my instruction. If you decide in favor then I will have you sign a 1 year contract.
Health
If you're sick please stay home and we will do our best to reschedule. If your throat hurts or your voice is hoarse, please do not attend your lesson. Contact me and we will work to reschedule when you’re feeling better. As a vocalist it’s very important to take good care of your voice and to not put undue strain on it. Vocal health is a top priority.
