Piano Policies

Tuition

Lessons are $18 per half an hour. However this fee is due at the beginning of each month at a cost of $72 per student (during the school year). There will be months where the student receives 5 lessons for the cost of 4, this is to balance out the months where your student may receive only 3 lessons due to holidays or other events. You will be paying for 41 private lessons throughout the year (including the summer), so that is how many we will plan on having. Please read my policy regarding make-up lessons. After the first child (or adult), every subsequent member of a family will receive 10% off the cost of their tuition.

Summer Lessons

We will schedule 4 lessons during the summer, but they do not necessarily have to be on your usual day or time. This way we can work around summer vacations while not allowing the student’s growing musical skills to regress and grow cold. The cost of the summer semester is $72 per student.

Materials

You will be responsible for the cost of method books for yourself/your child. I will loan out supplementary materials so as to enhance musical development and repertoire variety. If a loaned book is enjoyed to the point where you would like your own copy please discuss it with me and we can make the necessary arrangements.

Make-up Lessons

I will have one Saturday a month where I will schedule make-up lessons. If I have any slots available in the week I may choose to offer that time to you as a potential alternative. A make-up lesson is a privilege, so please do your best to respect your set lesson time. If you miss your lesson more than once in a month and we are unable to find a different slot during the week than I’m afraid you will be out that lesson and it may reduce your total number of lessons for the year.

Punctuality and Attendance

Lessons will begin when scheduled, so please do not come in prior to the start of your lesson. If you are late to your lesson it will still end when scheduled. Attendance is expected at every scheduled lesson. Alert me of absences in advance. If you have a vacation planned please let me know a week in advance. For other circumstances such as illness, please let me know as early as possible. If you miss a lesson without letting me know of the situation at least two hours in advance, you will not be eligible for a make-up lesson. Absences should also be based upon a legitimate reason, please respect my time this way. If I do  not feel like your reason for absence was respectful of my time I reserve the right to deny you a make-up lesson. If something happens and I am unable to teach, we will schedule a make-up lesson.

Car Troubles/Bad Weather

If there is something hindering you from attending physically then we will have your/your child’s lesson over Zoom, FaceTime, or Skype.

Duration of Lessons

We will meet for a consultation to assess where your student is at musically and if you’d like to proceed with lessons under my instruction. If you decide in favor then I will have you sign a 1 year contract.

Event Participation

I will expect every student to participate in our studio recital each spring, unless there are extenuating circumstances. Other events will be optional. Some events will be free to participate in, others will have entrance fees, and those with entrance fees will be the responsibility of the student or their family to cover.

Method of Payment

I accept cash, check, or venmo.
